AOSFB and AOSFB Alumni Association.  The publication comes through Yahoo Groups and offers a quick and
easy way for the organizations to stay in touch with current members, parents, the community and, of course,
AOSFB Alumni.

Be part of a musical tradition that dates to 1925.  The All-Ohio State Fair Band has been an organization that
welcomes the best young people of Ohio to learn, perform, grow as an individual and expand their horizons.

Applications will be mailed to all high schools in the State of Ohio during the first week of February.

Veterans, who are invited to apply for membership in 2013, will receive an application mailed to their home
address.

If you would like more information concerning the Band, the application process or if you would like an
application mailed directly please email
aosfb@aosfb.com to  request information.  You will be able to
download an application here beginning February 1, 2013.

In Memoriam: George Schmidt
April 8, 2013

It is with much sadness that the news of George Schmidt's passing is shared.  For over 80 years the AOSFB
played "Happy Birthday" for George, enjoyed Schmidt's Jumbo Hot Dogs, and were directed in "Stars and
Stripes" by Mr. Schmidt.   Funeral arrangements will be made in the enxst day or so.  Until then

AOSFB Staff Announced
June 30, 2013

The All-Ohio State Fair Band will once again bring together an outstanding group of high school
musicians which will be led by a dynamic group of educators, musicians, leaders in their
professions and college students gaining experience.

Donald F. Santa-Emma, Director of the All-Ohio State Fair Band returns for his15th year in the
position.  He is in his 40th year on the staff and brings a wealth of experience as a classroom
teacher, supervisor of fine arts for the Cleveland Schools, music contractor for Playhouse
Square and years of involvement in the music on mnay levels.  He is joined by Camp Manager
Ed Gallagher, a 4-year member of the Band and staff member of 26 years.

The entire staff works as a solid unti to oversee all aspects of the State Fair experience from
rehearsing and directing concerts, to first aid, delivering mail and supervision of members
during free time....and everything inbetween!

The staff welcomes two new equipment managers - Ryan Hurd, a three year vet of the Band
and Dakota Parrish who is also a three year member of the Band.

A tip of the hat goes to Mike Taras who served for 5 years as equipment manager who steps
away from the staff.  Mike did a fine job during his tenure and wish him well in his new job that
he recently started.

More Green Space Coming to The Fair
July 2, 2013

This summer you'll see a great new look to TheFair when you enter from the Cardinal Gate.  A new walked
graced by fabulous new trees - bring shade and some more green to the grounds.  Thanks to Gov. Kasich's
vision this new addition, about which we tweeted some pics a month ago, will be ready to go when the Fair

Five Ways to Experience the Ohio State Fair

Experience Columbus has some suggestions for visiting the fair....five different ways.  Of course, we feel that
there was a huge omission by not naming the AOSFB or AOSFYC - but at least the Choir photo appeared.  It's a
fun read, especially for new folks to the Fair expereience.
