Congratulations on being chosen a member of the 2011 All-Ohio State Fair Band.  You are now a proud member of an organization with a long history and many proud traditions.  You are one of Ohio's finest and join the ranks of numerous talented  musicians who have performed at The Ohio State Fair since 1925.

It is time to start planning and packing for your time at The Fair.  Below are a few tips and suggestions that should assist you in making the experience the best possible.  Please review the suggestions as well as the list that comes with the final instructions.  Feel free to email with any questions.

Be prepared with luggage in which you are able to lock valuables.
You must lock your valuables such as cell phones, ipods, cash, check and other items not listed here.

Foot lockers are a great way to keep items one safe place.

Many members bring hanging storage units for clothes. 
Here is how it looks in the dorms.  They cannot be locked


A combination padlock is suggested.
Keyed locks are not recommended.


Be prepared with hangers for clothes. 
A large hanger pole runs through the dorm areas.


Trunks, hanging units, locks and hangers are available
from stores such as Target, Wal-Mart, and Kmart.
They are not available at The Fair

Musical Needs
Your final instructions contained a list of required items. 
This is just a reminder to come with your instrument in 100% working order.
Be sure to have an ample supply of reeds, slide grease, valve oil, key oil or other daily used items.
Drummers may want to bring extra sets of sticks and a spare head.
Bring a minimum of 4 clothes pins.
Here are a few essentials.
A folding music stand pictured to the left.
Flip folio book pictured to the right.
No more than 5 additional folio pages.
A lyre for your instrument that holds the flip folio book.
There are limited supplies
of these items at The Fair.
Piccolo and percussion players be sure to bring the correct folio books for your instrument.
Additional Items
PERSONAL ITEMS
Please be prepared with the essential toiletries.
Be sure to place everything from tooth paste and soap to shampoo and sunscreen on your list.
Bring a water bottle - film - batteries - pencils - stamps.
Just remember that all items must fit in your locked luggage.
There are no pay phones in the building.
SPENDING MONEY
Please do not bring cash.
Bring travelers checks.
There will be time every day to cash at The Band Office  for your use at The Fair.
LAUNDRY
Facilities are available.
Turnaround time for cleaning clothes is usually fast - 1 to 2 days - but it can be longer.
Many Band members bring enough clean clothes for free time, rehearsal, and the whole camp.
Please bring along a laundry bag so your clothing items will be
safe and secure when delivering them to the laundry.
Plastic grocery bags are not permitted.
CELL PHONES
Band members are permitted to bring cell phones. 
Please keep the following in mind:
They may not be used in the dorms, during concerts/rehearsals, after taps or before reveille each day.
Band members are responsible for the phone, its safety and recharging as needed.
Mom & Dad
Here is your chance to wear AOSFB proudly . . .

FINAL THOUGHTS
Please do not bring extra intruments or computers as there is no WiFi access.
The Band member is completely responsible for all items that are brought to the State Fair.
